In the minds of the opposition, this is healthy competition and the company that can make the product and the best quality should stay in business. Supporters of lower border security want the products at what they cost not the high tariffs and taxes that United States Customs puts on items. The opposition although having a good point does not have all the information in the argument. Like all opinions, there is no right side. Instead, there is just one you agree with more than the other. Supporters of increased border security want some safeguards in place.
United States Custom and Border Protection is a branch under the Homeland Security Department which was created to encompass all emergency planning and enforcing agencies. The government has passed many grants to give agencies grants for training and equipment in order to conduct anti-terrorism operations. The (TSA) Transportation Security Administration is one of those agencies that most people would come in contact with. Most people have traveled on a plane sometime in their life and came into contact with TSA agents. They are the officers that screen you be for you are able to board an airline. A new system that has a big controversy is the full body imager which is used to detect concealed weapons and any abnormalities that should not be on a person. The screeners that view the images are at a separate area and the new software that has been added to the imagers put a standard manikin on the screen and show the screener if there are any abnormalities. When the system was first put into use, it was more revealing but the system has been updated for more privacy. There is also an option to avoid the full body imager and that is for a pat down. Some passengers prefer to go this route where a gender dependent officer will pull you aside and pat your body down to feel for any contraband. The reason that the security is necessary is to protect the travels on the flight.
