Special Effects in science fiction films

 

Blade runner (1982), directed by Ridley Scott, is set in 21st-century Los Angeles, where the mission of the protagonist is to track down the horrible androids which seem entirely human. In addition, in The Terminator (Cameron 1984), it features a particularly murderous robot, however in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Cameron 1991), it plays a rare creature in any robotics science fiction films: a nice robot. Similarly, in Robocop (Verhoeven 1987), the half-human half-robot policeman dispenses instant and violent justice. (Walters 2000).
             In the 1990s, the theme of science fiction films has turned to the growth of the Internet and global computer networks. (Walters 2000) However, Steven Spielberg's AI: Artificial Intelligence (2002) paints a more understanding view of artificial life, portraying sensitive robots that are abused by cruel, selfish human masters.
             "The real appeal of film lies in the special effects Technique, that's what movies are about! How appearances are made to appear." (Landon 1992: 147) Special effects have become an essential part in making a film in general, science fiction and fantasy films in particular. It has become the cinema of attraction in the modern era. Nowadays, as Krueger state that, computer graphics have improved to the point where it is possible to create a world of visual reality or fantasy in complete detail (Landon 1992: 145); for instance, in The Matrix and the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Jackson 2002). Also, "the relationship between the actors and the scenery will be limited only by our imagination. Animation will be possible with what appears to be live images.
