Lord, I Believe - The Concept of Faith

".
For our faith to be strengthened and to be healed spiritually, emotionally or physically we must remember to choose faith over fear. "When facing the challenge of faith, the father asserts his strength first and only then acknowledges his limitation. His initial declaration is affirmative and without hesitation: "Lord, I believe" (Holland, 2013). Likewise, we must never give in to the doubt which so often permeates our mind and, sometimes heart. The petition to remember is one of the most frequent reminders that Jesus Christ gives to those who are struggling with their faith or with a question in their lives. Similarly, when Oliver Cowdery wanted to receive a witness from the Lord about his own abilities and the next step he should take, Christ encourages him by saying, "Verily, verily I say unto thee, blessed art thou for what thou hast done; for thou hast inquired of me, and behold, as often as thou hast inquired thou hast received instruction of my Spirit. If it had not been so, thou wouldst not have come to the place where thou art at this time" (D&C 6:14). God could say the very same thing to the man who brought his son before Him in Mark Nine. Christ could have said to the father, I am so grateful for your faith. You have sought my disciples; you have sought to do my will, therefore I can heal your son. Jesus could have said to the father that he would not be there in front of Him with this request to bless his son if he had more doubt than faith. He could have said, you are here because of your faith; yet Christ did not say that. He allowed the father to state verbally his belief so that the father's faith could then be strengthened. .
Christ allows each of us the very same opportunity to declare our faith, with a gentle reminder such as, "If you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things.
