Through this book, Card is depicting why the military government uses isolation, shows how isolation deeply affects a kid like Ender personally and physiologically, and what Ender does to live through it. .
Well, as we already know about the government form from this story, they are strict on everything, for example a family needed permission to have a Third kid and kids are monitored for half their lifetime. Ender's family is one of the families who did this. Having a Third child, and all of Ender's siblings were monitored when they were kids, however both Ender's brother and sister were monitored a shorter period of time compared to Ender. Since an early age, Ender was known as a really intelligent, patient, keen, and quiet child. The isolation of his peers caused the loss of his innocent childhood life, which hereinafter it changed the way he thinks and acts. This has begun since Ender was still having his monitor. The elders have been bullying him since he was at school and it was just because he is a 'Third'. Behind that, the government planned all of this. They monitored Ender until they knew what exact character and abilities that Ender has, and as it is mentioned by the 'nurse' of the government, "He's too malleable. Too willing to submerge himself in someone else's will". "Not if the other person is his enemy." "So what do we do? Surround him with enemies all the time?" (Card, 5) According to this statement, it clearly mentions that the government planned this to test Ender's emotions, to see whether if he actually could maintain them or not, and also to build his independent character. It is because this Ender is willing to submerge himself to someone (Valentine). Even so, it is not the best way to test six year old. A kid surrounded by enemies, isolated, all of these are way to harsh. Nevertheless, Ender is not like the other kids. He has more mature way of thinking to solve problems around him.
