Banning Cigarettes in Public Areas

 

            We are living today in the twenty first century where many more people are considering living healthier and more active lifestyles. At the same time, it seems like the number of people who smoke has only increased over the years. There are many external factors that can harm our health such as air pollution, water pollution, and pesticides just to name a few. Many of these potential health hazards are difficult to avoid on a daily basis.  Therefore there should not be any tolerance for potential health hazards that we can directly control such being subjected to second hand smoke. The addiction of smoking cigarettes is very harmful, not only to one's health, but when smoking in public areas others are adversely affected by second hand smoke.​.
             Our bodies should be treated with care. Smoking is now known as a carcinogen meaning it causes cancer among other lung, heart and throat related conditions. In addition, smoking is an independent choice consciously made by an individual. The problem lies with the fact that when a person smokes in a public place, people who do not chose to smoke are indirectly introduced to second hand smoke. Just because people who smoke decide to subject themselves to deadly diseases, as well as long and short term health problems does not mean others should be put at risk.  Non-smokers should not have to live with the consequences of smoker's actions. Most smokers understand the risk of how unhealthy smoking can be, and still choose to continue with this ugly and nasty habit. Warnings of the potential health risks are clearly and boldly printed on all forms of tobacco products from the United States Surgeon General. .
             Everyone has their own choice, but we all have been made aware that smoking is a super addictive habit and very harmful to our bodies. People see a smoker as someone who is not clean, and believes that they are not too worried about their own health, not to mention how their choices may influence others, like the young population of our world.
