Deciding to Be a Veterinarian

I advise everyone who wants to be a veterinarian to be a part of the FFA program in high school because you get to do a lot in that program. It really helped me determine what I wanted to be in life. All the helping and volunteering I did, it became routine and just something I really wanted to do. .
"I think you learned and became an animal lover because you were an only child for 13 years and outside of your friends, you had a friend in your dog, Chucha. When you weren't able to be around your friends, Chucha became your entertainment and a bond was formed as though she was a real new-member of our family. When she became a part of our family, you treated her like she was your little sister. You walked her every day and you took her to get groomed every so often. If you ask me, she was like a human being in our house." As said in my interview, my mom knew from the beginning that I would love animals. She saw this in me when I was a baby. I loved to play with all types of animals at my cousin's house and having a pet of my own made my life a whole lot better. Chucha became my everything and more! She was more than a pet to me, she was like my best friend. Having Chucha and joining FFA in Desoto ISD, I believe was the greatest experience that shaped me into being a future vet. I loved the responsibility of caring for, making sure she had food, water and a cozy place to sleep was important to me. I loved getting her groomed and coming back with hair bows, which you insisted on buying her cute outfits. My trip to PV was an eye opening experience for you. Seeing, touching and interacting with larger animals was exciting for me. I knew and began realizing that caring for Chucha was a walk in the park compared to the larger animals but knowing that was what interest me, I began to grown into my love for all animals. Even though I've told my mom that I'll never want to ever deal with big animals because of the bigger responsibility and the horrible experience I had when you visited a farm and a horse kicked me in my stomach.
