Use of Opinion in Writing

So recently I went to my hometown of Paris, AR to visit with her and ask her about my troubling question: "Does a student always have to stay objective for their work to be considered good?" She and I conversed about it for several minutes, and I explained to her my thoughts and reasoning for the question. Mrs. Inman talked about how it was a big controversy at the school and also in the media. She simply concluded that is it always good to state one's own beliefs in writing. Also she said that when it comes to analysis or any writing of that sort that it is good to form an opinion based on fact. I can completely agree with how she responded to my questions and concerns. .
It is hard to even be able to put a name on a paper without an opinion of some sort being stated. A person just simply cannot call a piece of writing their own if they don't write something that came from their thoughts. In retrospect, it is also good to keep an open mind and not let opinion cloud the purpose of the work. I don't always believe my own opinion is necessarily the correct one, I just have my own beliefs and why I believe them. But I always keep an open mind to what someone else believes and I can form an opinion that is respectful and that doesn't bash their opinion or put them down. Sometimes if that person can back their opinion up with solid facts, it can change the way I think about the topic. That is why I agree with Mrs. Inman about forming an opinion that is based on facts. One can state what they believe, just as long as they say what makes them believe that way. At the end of the day, no matter what opinion I may have on a subject, if I don't have concrete facts to explain the way I think, it won't make a difference in my writing. .
Therefore, if a student doesn't stay completely objective, it is okay. I believe it is nearly impossible to stay objective throughout a paper. For example, I cannot think of a text that I have had to write a paper over that didn't have the author's opinion in it.
