The author of the photograph uses human anatomy as a way to compare an ordinary pair of human lungs to the breathing wind path of the earth. The author made an emotional connection with the audience using the forest trees that were shaped into a neglected pair of lungs. The tearing and corrosion of the lung in the image is indeed an eye opening sight to humanity, that the survival of the environment is just as imperative as the survival of the human race. People tend to not realize that humanity and the environment rely on each other. If flora and fauna did not exist, then humans would not be able to survive.
The brown discolored part of the lung in the image makes a saddening emotional appeal to the audience that shows how the forest is dying out slowly day by day, and night by night. Within the brown discolored section of the lung, there seems to be smaller green spots that represent the trees that once stood there. Rather than the brown tree stumps that still remain there, the image also shows vehicles in the damaged part of the forest. In the midst of the trucks that are on the land, there seems to be houses that are being established in the area. This gives the impression that the individuals who are destroying the forest are here to stay and to ensure that the whole forest is destroyed. The trucks leave a trail behind that signifies the disappointment of the green area of the forest that once existed. Within the image what appears to be bronchi are made up of man-made roadways that lead into the forest. The author of the picture uses pathos many times within the image in hopes that the audience would develop some sort of sympathy for what is happening to the forest. Pathos is used to inform the audience not only about what is currently happening, but it reminds people to think about the way they are treating themselves when they observe the image.
The image itself logically persuades the reader by the use of color that is in the picture.
