Defining Successful Teaching

As stated earlier students are learning to be responsible; it is the teachers' job to continue to build upon what level of responsibility the students already know. Teachers must also use their time wisely and maximize time for learning; this mean that they must be prepared ahead of time. Classroom management is in essence creating a learning community and this community is very diverse, however everyone is participating and learning regardless of their differences. .
Implementing good teaching strategies will allow teachers to reach each student regardless of their diversity or differences. Teaching strategies may vary from teacher to teacher but there are some that most teachers will use. One particular or most used strategy is active learning. Active learning is "is anything that students do in a classroom other than merely passively listening to an instructor's lecture. Research shows that active learning improves students' understanding and retention of information and can be very effective in developing higher order cognitive skills such as problem solving and critical thinking " (Merlot, 2015). This can be anything that a teacher uses to keep the classroom engaging and exciting. Teachers should learn their learners and understand how they learn or the best way to teach them. Some students learn through visual, some through writing, some through hands on or kinesthetic. Some learners are even dual and can learn either way. Good teaching strategies will implement multiple ways to teach their students so that each learner will be able to learn. Collaborative or group learning is a good teaching strategy; during collaborative learning students are put in small groups and can work on a stated goal. Group learning need to be well planned; teachers should design tasks that takes a group effort to succeed. During cooperative group learning teachers should just guide the lesson and promote positive interdependence.
