New communication resources have changed the use of communication media in several organizations. It is imperative to study the influence of technology in the workplace and how it affects the communication with the employees whether the technology has exchanged the traditional medium of communication, which is face-to-face (F2F.) This paper will review and discuss the preferred employee communication tool, F2F communication and Computer-mediated communication (CMC.) .
Employee communication has become one of the most important providers when it comes to organizational effectiveness (Grunig, 1992) by creating a link between the organization and the employees through numerous communication media outlets such as interpersonal and small group communication, traditional print communication, electronic communication and online communication. Communication is vital to keep employees informed about an organizations business vision, strategies and goals. Also communication is vital to help each individual in an organization continue to work together for a common purpose or goal within the organization. In recent years, technology advances and the Internet have dramatically developed and been introduced in several workplaces. Technological change is one major component that has influenced the communication approaches within organizations, especially the practice of new communication technology in employee communication. Face-to-face communication is a dialogue, chat or discussion one has while being face to face with the other party. Through F2F you can rely on several channels such as appearance, clothing, posture, non-verbal communication, voice tones, eye contact, etc. F2F communication is fast, simple, reliable and convenient (An & Frick, 2006.).
"Face-to-face communication and in-person meetings can boost efficiency. Instead of spending an entire day e-mailing back and forth, you can hash out all of the details of a project in one go.
