The manifest destiny has brought many progressive affects towards making the United States a prosperous and powerful nation.
The Manifest Destiny has also been viewed as a movement of aggressive imperialism and harmful to many people. It shows in the Map of Disputed Texas Border (Document D) in which Mexico and Texas had major conflict in deciding whether the border was to be set by Rio Grande or Nueces River. This document clearly identifies where they had the problems and where either border would lie after the dispute but this caused major conflict in which there was several attacks on Mexico and Texas from each other which caused casualties thus harming many individuals. The author of the illustration points out the fact that simple border lines that could be decided peacefully ended up creating a war with Mexico and Texas and looked like the United States did not care about anyone but themselves and just trying to take over everything, also known as "imperialism". It is also exemplified in the illustration of the Map, Lands of the Mexican Cession (Document G) in which shows all the land that the U.S took from Mexico which includes the state of California. By showing this map many people have viewed that again the United States was only looking out for themselves and did not care what it took to gain control of more land and more power. That is why they had no problem going to war with Mexico thus making it an important part of history when they were able to take more land and show aggressive imperialism which ended up hurting many individuals in the process. The Manifest Destiny showed many attempts in aggressive imperialism which caused many individuals to hurt in the end.
