God's Big Picture

By building this tower they believed it would make a name for them, but God thought different. God confused all their languages so then they were unable to speak to each other, and then in turn unable to work together to build the temple. By doing this, it made the people separate into groups and move all throughout the world.
God's perfect world was ruined by sin and because of this sin we are unable to live in his place and bask in his blessings. So God wanted to reestablish a new kingdom. He made a covenant with his disciple Abraham, and he promised many descendants in the land of Canaan. This fulfilled the parts of God's people and God's place and in this place they are able to bask in God's rule and blessings. Because of the sin this kingdom did not last very long, it was on partially filled because the people were eventually captured by the Egyptians. These were known as God's people so he did not want to see them in captivity, so he sent a man named Moses to free them. After convincing the Pharaoh of Egypt to let the people go, they reached the sea and the Egyptians began to chase after them. Moses parted the sea for them to cross and it then collapsed on all the Egyptians. He then led the people to Mount Sinai where God spoke to him through a burning bush. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments for his people to follow. Israel, known as God's chosen people, turned their back on God many times but by his grace he forgave them over and over again and sent them to the God's place known as the land of Canaan. Along with them he sent the ark that held the Ten Commandments to remind them of God's rule and blessings. This partial kingdom is only a glimpse of how the real and perfect kingdom will be, that is fulfilled through Jesus Christ. The sin eventually drives the people of Israel into two different areas known as North Israel and Judah. Because of all the sin God sends his prophets to tell them that they will be persecuted for all their sins and that Jesus Christ will come and fulfill all his promises.
