The Fandom of Japanese Anime

The anime today is nothing like the American cartoons. Today it is trying to spell out a message to all of the audience. Characters in anime change, grow, and often die. Anime like Evangelion shows this emotion. The Japanese view of the universe is amoral. Unlike the American view that is fair, the Japanese believes that anime should be treated the same as the good characters could die pointlessly and evil would win. In anime characters are not divided to be good or evil, they are a mix of both that can gradually change over time. Anime also uses loyalty, altruism, and heroism. The death of someone doing for the wrong cause is just as heroic or dying for the wrong. Characters may sacrifice routinely for a cause that may not succeed. In this way anime becomes more suspenseful and realistic as there is no guarantee that the good and true love would win. Another trait being used in Japan is symbolism, used a lot more than in the west. The symbols are used in a completely different way than the Americans are used to. An example would be: a boy having a nosebleed is understood to be sexually aroused. Finally anime uses shinto and Buddhist stories. For westerners anime may be difficult to understand with all the nuances in meanings but luckily only little knowledge is needed to understand.
When people begin to enjoy anime, they may become addicted and for the greater experience those people will like to dress-up as their favorite hero, heroine or any appealing character. This is known as cosplay. During a cosplay, people want to express their feelings, show-off, and show their enjoyment. One way a social aspect of cosplay can be expressed is by acting as a model for budding photographers with similar interests. Cosplayers and photographers who may want to capture still shots use conventions. There are also wider audiences who like to watch and there are arranged areas for that matter. Today witnessing coplay has risen to such an extent where people can enjoy viewing cosplayers on a daily basis.
