Living in My Home Town

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead .
I have been lucky enough to call Ione my home for my entire life. I have always loved the small town feel of Amador County and especially Ione. I have been able to accomplish so many milestones with the support of the community of Ione. Living here has given me the opportunity to become active in many community organizations. I have been able to participate in the planning and execution of the beloved Ione Homecoming, help the Ione Rotary with their fundraisers through the Argonaut Future Farmers of America, or FFA. I have also been lucky enough to be able to work with a young boy who is diagnosed with Autism disorder. Living in a small community has helped me become the person I am today, and for that I will forever be thankful. .
For as long as I remember, my family and I have been in the Ione Picnic Association. We have been helping with the planning and the execution of Ione Homecoming for many years now. I became extremely active approximately five years ago as I was almost in High School. Every year, I go to the Elementary School in Ione and help prepare for the annual costume contest. After the costume contest I head over to Howard Park to set up for the events of the weekend. I usually help my mom set up the music and beer garden, the help vendors get set up. All day Friday and Saturday, I help the vendors with any questions they may have, pick up trash around the park, and help the rodeo arena get set up. Before the annual event, I attend meeting to discuss the planning of all activities. We start meeting in January, meet two days a month, and end the meetings at the end of May. When we first start planning it seems as if there is an overwhelming amount of work, but in the end it is all worth it. .
Another community organization I have helped with is the Ione Rotary.
