Why Buddhism is the Best Philosphy

India and Ceylon traded a lot with each other and maintained a good relationship. King Ashoka of India sent Buddhists from India into Ceylon to talk about the positives of Buddhism so they could make the world a better place. King Tissa of Ceylon was so intrigued by these Buddhist ideas that right away he had everybody convert to Buddhism. When these kings fought in wars, rather than having a mission of gaining land they would fight to achieve enlightenment and to conquest the mind, which are both Buddhist ideas (Coningham, 1995, 228).
In the fourth century, Buddhism spread to Korea. Buddhist monks were sent to Korea and many people then studied Buddhism. It was appealing because the different kingdoms within Korea were going through rough times and wars. It was so appealing to Koreans that they developed different Buddhist schools that all focused on different Buddhist ideas. There was a school dedicated to the Middle Path, a school focused on study and discipline, and there was a school dedicated to the study of achievement of Nirvana (Pye 2002, 113). The peaceful aspects of Buddhism helped provide citizens and children with inner peace. Buddhist monks came to China and spread the ideas of Buddhism. Buddhist monks translated texts and entered China during the Han Dynasty. They went to China because they wanted everyone to be able to enjoy Buddhism like they did. Their mission was to get everyone to be able to live a peaceful life. They also wanted everyone to reach Nirvana. They wanted everyone to achieve those goals because peacefulness and Nirvana are the ultimate goals of Buddhism. Buddhist monks believed that if everybody in the world was Buddhist, then there would be no problems (Kane, 2006, p 132). They believed that Buddhism was going to have a positive impact on the world and make the world a more peaceful place. .
