Changing positions will help delay an orgasm because it takes the pressure off of the pelvic muscles which delays a climax in the male partner. Another method would be talking because it can stop stimulations. One last method used very often is called the start-stop technique and this is a very helpful strategy in preventing premature ejaculation.
A man named James Semans, a urologist, developed the start-stop technique which allows a man to be in control of his ejaculatory reflex. This technique allows men to identify their mid-level excitement, once this is identified, men are able to prevent ejaculation. Men can also cure this with these steps; self stimulation, partner hand stimulation, intercourse with minimal movement, and then end with the start-stop technique. There is also a squeeze technique that a man can perform when he is in the self stimulation stage. Just before a man is about to ejaculate, he should grab the shaft of the penis, slightly below the head, and firmly squeeze it between his thumb and forefinger. This is very effective for some men in preventing premature ejaculation because this method causes significant discomfort and reduces ejaculation. .
"Many men claim that the squeeze technique has helped reduce their premature ejaculation. However, most agree that squeeze technique must be practiced in order to learn the proper timing and squeeze location and pressure. Some men have their partners participate, actually administering the squeeze technique. Several uncontrolled studies have described great success with the squeeze technique but upon review of the literature, it appears that no formal clinical studies have been performed" (Premature Ejaculation, 2014). .
Antonio Valsalva came up with another maneuver called the Valsalva maneuver. This is performed by exhaling against a closed airway. When pinching your nose shut or closing your mouth, you blow out like you are blowing up a balloon.
