Police Department - Job Shadowing

I chose to do my job shadow on Officer ________ of the White Lake police department. Being a police officer has always been a goal I have wanted to accomplish since I was a little kid. The idea of being a public servant to help and protect anyone possible is the reason I am choosing a career in law enforcement. If I get the chance to become a police officer one day I am going to try my best to be the best possible.
Starting my job shadow was very interesting. Initially I thought it was going to be slow and a lot of talking in the office. We started the day off going to Huron Valley hospital to pick up medical records for an ongoing police investigation. The procedures to release medical records take two form of identification. Officer __________ could only tell me the major picture of the investigation due to privacy rights. The investigation was about a female who was abusing her husband. The content of the man state could not be released but Officer _________ told me he was stable but when he came into the hospital he could barely even move. .
Officer __________ answered every question I asked him even if it was about his personal life. I asked what the average pay of a patrol officer and an investigator start at. Investigator's start around 80 thousand dollars a year. Standard uniformed patrol officers average at 65 thousand dollars a year. The question that was my biggest and I wanted to ask the most was what do your daily activities consist of? Traffic stops and patrolling are the biggest and take up most of Officer _________ road time. Most days each officer goes to an accident at least twice a day.
There were some negative aspects being a police officer. Officer __________ said he has never liked having to ruin peoples day with tickets but it something that has to be done or this world would just be wild. I can see how arresting people who don't really deserve it could be hard but if its your job you have to do what your ordered to do.
