Crimea is a land mass on the northern coast of the Black Sea, lies on the west of Kuban (Russia) and on the south of Ukraine. Crimea has been the focal point of Eastern Front. Before Russian Civil War, Crimea was controlled by White Army "anti-Red Army and locals of Crimea. After defeated by Red Army, Crimea became the part of Russian Soviet Federation Socialist Republics in 1921 as Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic but it became part of Soviet Union officially in 1922. In the Second World War it was occupied by Germany. It remains under the Germans from 1942 to 1944. After liberation from Germans it got under the Crimean Oblast. In 1954 it became part of Ukraine Soviet Socialist Republic under Soviet Union. But in 1991 it became part of independent Ukraine as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. As it was the only land which connects Russia to Black Sea through Sevastopol " a warm water port. So Russia has always been interested in this land. Moreover this land has also minerals, resources and a solid tourism industry. 2014 dispute between Russian Federation and Ukraine regarding the annexation of Crimea has become a major issue of the world. There exists a question mark whether this annexation is justified or not. Russia used the force in Crimea Crisis and took the advantage of political instability and violates all the laws then how can this annexation be justified. Although Russia claims that the annexation of Crimea is fair as referendum shows the Crimean in the favor of union with Russia but it cannot be justified because it is against the international law of state integrity, against the Russia's own Constitution and it harms global peace.
The Russian annexation of Crimea is against the international law of state integrity and sovereignty which states: All members of United Nations shall refrain in their international relations from threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state or in any other manner inconsistent with the purpose of United Nations.
