Abortion - A Social Necessity

Abortion is often a topic of controversy in a democratic and free country of America. This paper reviews academic articles to demonstrate and compile the need for abortion as a social necessity to express women's right to control the reproductively and ensure their safety. Having a choice is an empowering right that in other countries is often punished by prison time. The right to an abortion to all women ensures safety regulations are put in place and followed. This makes the procedure safer and the mortality rate among women lower. Cultural beliefs in other countries such as religious implications, have impacted the politics around abortion.  Since America has people from all over the world and from many different religions, religion has fortunately not been able to affect the law in the same manner. Allowing women to have a right to an abortion is a freedom that is needed to ensure democracy and progress as a nation.

             Abortion: A Social Necessity.
The United States of America has since its conception been known as country in which the citizens have freedom of choice and rights that many people in the world do not enjoy.  These rights and freedoms relates to not only religion, politics, but also their everyday personal lives.  One of these right is the woman's choice to have an abortion.  Currently abortion is legal in the United States to 20 weeks in many states.  Other countries in the world, seven to be exact have banned any abortions (Padgett, 2014). This has resulted in many women suffering from a "witch hunt", prison, or even death due to having or being accused of having an abortion.  In order for women to have the right and freedom they deserve it is important to maintain the right to an abortion. That is to say; Abortion has become a social necessity to ensure the rights and freedom of the United States citizens.
