Analysis of a Reddit Post

Reddit is an entertainment based social network website where registered members can submit content such as pictures, text, or links. Only registered members can "up vote" or "down vote" other member's submissions which works to bring the best posts to the top of the site's pages. The entire site is organized into "subreddits," which are pages based on areas of interest. Each subreddit contains a specific set of rules which help shape the subreddit communities into exactly what kind of community the moderator wanted it as. There are many default subreddits where most of the activity on reddit takes place. One of these subreddits is called r/funny. r/funny was made for the sole purpose for the reader to go to and laugh. This is personally my favorite subreddit and it is where I submitted the post that I will be analyzing. .
The first thing one must do when analyzing a reddit post is look at the explicit rules of the subreddit in which the post took place. The rules of the subreddit greatly affect the kind of thing being posted. r/funny's first and most important rule is that there are no posts allowed which make no attempt at humor. The page was created in order for people to go and laugh at every post they come across. When someone posts something that just might be interesting but not funny then it probably belongs in another subreddit and will get removed by the moderator. This rule is pretty well enforced and many posts have been removed because of it. .
On r/funny there are fifteen different rules. Five of these rules have to do with not posting things that can be posted in other subreddits. Many of the others are about not posting things that are just communicating with another redditor or just personal stuff in general. The creators and readers don't care about your personal life and don't want to see that on their site. This is very well enforced and is rarely broken.
