General Happiness: The Effects of Education and Income

 

It will conduct whether or not people with higher education level are happier because they have higher income. .
             Literature review.
             In 2007, Alex Michalos, writes an article about the influence of education on happiness and has impact statements drawn from Hayward et al. (2005) "According to Statistics Canada, workers with higher education were more likely to have secure, high-wage, high-benefit jobs. Employee's with less than high school education were more likely to have insecure work, low wages and no benefits.poverty and inequality are acknowledged to be the most reliable predictors of poor health outcomes, and they are also closely linked to low educational attainment and unhealthy lifestyles (Michalos, 2005 p.39) ". Regards to this study drawn from Hayward, the statistics showed that people with lower education had insecure jobs that didn't fit their satisfaction, and without as much education the wage is set to be low. With their statistical research in Canada, it proved that workers that had a much higher educational background were likely to obtain a secure and higher paying job. Thus, shows that with higher education follows higher income. .
             Fernando Perez de Gracia (2011), publishes an article on a study of the impact of education on happiness in Spain using social survey. He uses 2,563 observations from the survey conducted in 2008. "There are two main channels through education affect subjective well-being. The first direct channel considers the positive effect on self-confidence and self-estimation and pleasure from acquiring knowledge. The second indirect channel takes into account that education promotes higher employment probability, better job quality, higher expected salary and better health. " (Gracia 2011). The three variables he uses includes: Happiness, "How happy are you, from 1 (not happy at all) to 10 (absolutely happy); Income Subjective feeling about household ²s income nowadays, 1 (living comfortably on present income), 2 (coping on present income), 3 (difficult on present income), and 4 (very difficult on present income).
