Gun Control and the Rights of Americans

Overly so, even if a person uses their real name or address it still wouldnt matter. .
Within gun stores a persons felony, addiction or illness record does not always show up when they are purchasing a gun; due to what the police department put in the system and medical privacy laws. For example, in the year of 1981, a guy name John Hinckley Jr. who had a police record and a mental illness was able to buy a gun using a fake address. After buying that gun Hinckley used it in the attempt to kill Ronald Reagan, but instead ended up wounding James Brady; a White House Press Secretary, leaving him partly paralyzed. After that incident President Bill Clinton signed a Brady handgun violence prevention act that is called The Brady Law. This law went into effect, which requires all gun dealers to run background checks on all potential buyers using the National Instant Criminal Background Check system (Phoenix News). .
The ultimate reasoning behind the certain restrictions as to when or where you may posses a weapon is due to the large amount of firearm related homicides that have taken place in recent history within the U.S. Prior to these restrictions; the 2nd Amendment was in full effect, with no fine print, stating the right to keep and bear arms. Clearly due to certain existing gun laws, the 2nd Amendment is only valid to a certain extent, meaning you have the right to bear arms, but within the guidelines enforced. This means in a state or providence in which the law requires a permit or license to carry a firearm, one cannot openly convey a firearm without such authorization. In recent years, in response to a numerous amount of tragedies that made national headlines including the Sandy Hook shooting, the shooting of congresswoman Gabby Gifford, and a few others, a petition was formed by thousands of citizens in attempt to structure a safer America. After a vote within the senate, the conclusion to block common sense gun reforms was drawn.
