The Filipino Food Eating Habit: Revamping for the worse?.
In the olden days, when my grandfather would ring the bell, it was usually a signal for his sons and daughters to stop whatever they were doing and head home. It was because the bell signaled that it was already family mealtime. If they would not come home on time, the doors would be closed and they would miss out on the meal.
Those were the times when there was a tight customary Filipino food eating habit that only served food during the scheduled routine mealtime. However, it is now uncommon in this contemporary generation. Living in today's mid-modernization era, this kind of culture has been gradually manipulated. The extension of service hours in restaurants, the accessibility of food delivery and emergence of numerous convenience stores have now changed the traditional Filipino eating habits in urban areas.
Long before employees, after hours of exhaustion from work, would stop what they're doing and leave for a lunch break and back then, lunch breaks were vitally important as to food establishments would only offer great selections of food courses during the set mealtime. Moreover, food establishments would not also take the risk to open selections of food courses in the times, where it is out of the set mealtime.
While some of them eat out for lunch, others go home to eat with their families and rest. When they arrive at home, the family members would also stop what they're doing and they start dining the minute everyone has settled in their seats. .
Since it is a tradition in a Filipino family to dine together, even during busy days, they would always allot time to eat together. And the best ways to do this is to have this fixed time of eating that is during breakfast, lunch and dinner. But nowadays, due to the rise of commercial industries, people's minds have been greatly influenced and they now tend to adapt to the contemporary trends, altering the traditional Filipino food eating habits.
