Money and Politics

Discussion on Politics and the Influence of Money Within.

Lohman once said, "No matter what your social issue, if you want to solve it get the money out of politics. Only then will lawmakers vote for their people rather than their pocketbooks." Money corrupts politics in many different ways, most are un-known to the common person whom either participates in the voting booth at each election or chooses not to. The contributions being made to candidates are ridiculously high and are obliviously not in the best interest of the American voter. In the Book, "Selling Out: How Big Corporate Money Buys Elections, Rams Through Legislation, and Betrays Our Democracy", Mark Greene describes these problems in detail and shows the correlation between the money and the many individual problems within the government dealing with the money. It also states that the legislation being passes to curve the finances in politics don"t work. The whole system between the money and the candidates presently keeps going in circles. The citizens in this country that are considered in the lower class economically either don"t understand that the people in power are the people with money or simply just are the influences of the people in power. The wealthy are not going to make themselves lose their money, consequently someone has to pay, so it keep the non-wealthy poor. .
As Lohman said before nothing will ever happen in today's government for the poor unless it benefits the office holder or the "wealthy people" that support them. Big companies, powerful executives, and people who give vast sums of money to political advocates get legislation to go in favor of them. But if thought about logically, the only way for a person to get elected is if they have a lot of money, through which they derive from the powerful people in this nation. I don"t think that this would even been an issue if the power elite were not mostly contrived of the "Straight White Christian males.
