Racial Stereotypes of the 21st Century

Even though it's the 21st century, stereotyping still exist. Many people stereotype African Americans by assuming everytime they see a successful African American they have to play a professional sport or they only can be wealthy through sports instead of an education. My parents and my family assume I only can make it through sports, and not through my intelligence. My family is corrupted by the views of the world and also has stereotyped me. They think I can only make something of myself through sports and one day playing professional basketball in the NBA. It's like they don't see me getting a degree in medicine, or getting my PHD, or becoming a doctor they only see what the world stereotype us to be, and that's sports players not geniuses. .
Even though in history, we have had many very intelligent African Americans that has accomplished goals as great as the Noble Piece Prize, and the President of the United states of America without playing professional sports; However, the works still views us, African Americans as if that's the only option we have to succeed in life. And us. African American are also stereotyping our own selves by wanting to play professional sports and actually making it our only option as we move forward in life. Which sports isn't the only option, the first and last option should be getting an education and becoming a doctor, lawyer, surgeon, dentist, or CEO of a company. .
I've been playing sports my entore life since the age of seven. My parents corrupted me early in life. I started playing peewee football at the age of seven and my dream ever since then was to become a professional football player. My parents dream was the exact replica of mines. Which isn't right. We still give people reasons to stereotype us African Americans, we need to change our ways and the way we do things and change to better help us and our future generation of African Americans. If my parent would've put me in a private school at the age of seven and hired me a tutor, my focus wouldn't be on sports but on education.
