Active Learning by Doing

 

I saw all the achievements in mathematics and science, the different cultural backgrounds, and the impacts they had throughout history. The tour gave me more insights on Arab American and made me embrace the project more. After the tour I was briefed on what I needed to do for the service learning project. Which included how to conduct the interview for the business and what was expected on the Wikipedia page. After the museum visit, the real work began.
             Once I had all the information I needed to conduct the project. I began searching for a business. At first, I was going to do a business in Dearborn, however I decided I wanted interview a place in my hometown of Sterling Heights, MI. The first business I contacted was Hanna's Market, the owner agreed to collaborate with me, but when the time came for the interview decided not to participate. I then had to search for another place that would actively participate with me. I had, to adapt to my situation and so I was also an accommodator when I was trying to find another Arab American business to agree to do the project was difficult. I had to call four other business before I finally found one that would cooperate with me, and that business was La Saj Lebanese Bistro. The owner Alex Awada agreed to meet me with on September 26, 2014 at 3:00 pm. However, when I had arrived to the interview, Mr. Awada was late, he did not arrive until 4:30 pm. He apologized for the inconvenience and I stated that it was fine and then the interview preceded. Mr. Awada had answered all the questions I needed in order to produce a proper Wiki page. Once the interview was complete, I bid him farewell and thanked him for his time. The next step of the project could commence and the Wiki page for La Saj Lebanese Bistro could be made. .
             Making the Wiki page was the easiest part of the project for me. After getting all the info all I had to do was turn it into a paragraph and format it into Wiki.
