Biography of Benjamin Franklin

 

" Probably the best edited newspaper was the Pennsylvania Gazette,established in 1728 in Philadelphia and purchased the following year by Benjamin Franklin, who had earlier worked as an apprentice printer on his brother's Boston periodical, the New England Courant. At its peak, the Gazette attracted 2,000 subscribers " (Foner,149). After trials and tribulations Franklin made a style of writing that made the colonies want to look at his work ,and that was when the political cartoon was born. Thanks to Franklin his writing style showed the colony that a picture can relate a lot of meaning.For years to come ( meaning present days) Historians and American society have learned a lot about our American history from Political cartoons. .
             After traveling to France Franklin came back to America,where he began the journey of helping America's gain its independence. In part 3 of the wonderful life of Benjamin Franklin his son passes away and you can see the sadness that was reflected in the story (Franklin,84). After that Franklin jumped right in to Junto, which was a men's club. He then saw how it was actually being taken serious by many people and the saw how people wanted to join but the felt otherwise (Franklin,85). Franklin then got his first promotion as a clerk for the General Assembly and that is where his political career began." My first promotion was my being chosen, in 1736,clerk of the General Assembly (Franklin,85). Being in the big leads for years to come give Franklin an over see of how America is being ran. Also his printing business and the Junto do benefit the colony because the kept them informed. Also Franklin was able to see what the colony was missing because after he was appointed Deputy Postmaster-General the then started his plan on the city police.(Franklin,86). In 1743 Franklin then drew up a plan for Pennsylvania because he saw that Pennsylvania had no provision for defense and it didn't have a education department ( College) ( Franklin,92) .
