One day while reading a local magazine, I came across an ad for Fat Pat's Bar & Grill of Lafayette. The ad was a picture of the restaurant with the saying, "Never Trust a Skinny Cook " under the picture. The saying made me laugh; a bigger cook does normally mean they know how to cook food you can't resist. I had never heard of anyone I know going to Fat Pat's until I asked my brother about the place after reading their ad. My brother told me he loved the place so much he literally makes it a habitat to go a least once a week. I decided I needed to see what all the fuss was about.
The atmosphere of Fat Pat's is quite similar to that of other sports bars, but it has its own originality. When you're looking for a place to watch a game, Fat Pat's has plenty for big screen TVs waiting for you. It has the sports memorabilia and décor you're looking for to let you know you're in the right place to watch a sporting event. The design of the sports bar area is unlike any other. One thing you don't expect to see when going into a restaurant or sports bar, is a garage door entrance. It's almost as if you're at home in the garage having a game day party with family and friends. Separate from the sports bar area is the dining area. The dining area has comfy booths with a TV at every one. Having the dining area separate from the bar makes Fat Pat's a welcoming environment for a family outing, as well as a night out with friends.
The service at Fat Pat's will keep you coming back again and again. There is never a wait to be seated and there is always an available waitress waiting for the next table. My biggest pet peeve is having an empty glass because my waitress is not paying attention. Not one time while dinning at Fat Pat's has my drink sat empty. You always have those certain people who are waiting for the one slip up to complain about. My brother is definitely one for those people, but at Fat Pat's they've never given him a reason to pitch a fit.
