Imagine Dragons - Demons

I chose the song "Demons,"" by Imagine Dragons. I chose this song because it is not only one of my favorite songs, but the meaning behind it is deep, relatable, and powerful. The song is about acknowledging and battling our insecurities and or problems. Also, how we all have demons inside us, whether it'd be depression, jealously, anger, anxiety, or whatever else. People try to destroy us and we try to shield our demons from the ones we love, but we want their help. We are conflicted within, but we cannot escape who we are. .
The first verse is one of my favorites. The lines are, "When the days are cold and the cards all fold. And the saints we see are all made of gold. When your dreams all fail and the ones we hail, are the worst of all and the blood's run stale. " Cold days symbolize sadness and rough times "when your demons are bringing you down. "The cards all fold " metaphorically, life has its hard times where things don't work out" similar to being dealt bad hand. There isn't anyone truly good left in the world and we try to look up to those whom we think are good, but we end up following in some of their footsteps unknowingly. When all your dreams fail, the people and ideas someone thinks are the best can actually be the worst ones that have been holding them back. Plus if your heart stops beating, your blood becomes deoxygenated and you die. A beating heart is a metaphor for ambition or passion. Without passion it's as if there is no point. .
Furthermore with the chorus, "When you feel my heat, look into my eyes. It's where my demons hide; it's where my demons hide. Don't get too close, it's dark inside. It's where my demons hide; it's where my demons hide. Things start to get too intense to handle. One has gained the emotional trust needed to expose demons, or conflicted inner-self. The eyes are the window to the soul, giving a glimpse into the inner self, where our demons hide. You might not see the deeper layers of a person at first glance, but only after looking more deeply.
