Usually after when couples decide to get married, some usually want to start a family. They would like their own home to raise their children to be successful in life like they were. They would want to continue their generation. But what if they can't have kids; because of medical reasons they didn't know about. Or what if they are homosexuals; do they still have the right now to have kids? Couples usually go to the doctor to find out what's wrong and what their options are. .
Mary Beth Whitehead, from Financial Times Limited states most people believe that surrogacy started from the biblical of Hagar, Sarah, and Abraham. Sarah was the wife of Abraham, and Hagar was the servant of Sarah. God promised Abraham a son, but Sarah could not conceive from Abraham. So Abraham had sexual intercourse with Hagar and she conceived from him. Soon later, Abraham received a son. His son's name was Isaac.
Kecia Gaither, MD, MPH states "surrogacy is the process in which couples use where they can't have children for certain medical reasons or for certain risks". So doctors would recommend a surrogate for them. There are two types of surrogate mothers: a traditional and gestational surrogate. Kecia Gaither states, "A traditional surrogate is a woman who is artificially inseminated with the father's sperm." This woman is considered the biological mother because the father's sperm fertilized her egg. A gestational surrogate is the most common surrogate. This is where the intended mother egg and the intended father sperm were used and placed in the uterus. The gestational surrogate is not considered the biological mother because her egg wasn't used .She is just considered the birth mother (Gaither ).
Supporters are companies who provided services, surrogates, and couples. Supporters of surrogacy think this is a good thing because some couples can't have their own kids. Couples can legally have their own kids, just with the help of somebody else .
