Going to College and Finding Success

" (Lockett, Ashley. Personal Interview. 27 April, 2014) the answer she gave to this question really hit home with me, and had me wondering. Am I going to be 2 years out of college still looking for work? Is my big sister who did not go to college possibly going to being more successful than I am? Was college a good decision, or should I have even came to college?.
As me being a first generation college student, I felt like it was only right that I stayed and graduate because literally no one in my family had gone to college. Majority of first-generation students are underrepresented among college-going students. A 2001 NCES study found that while 82 percent of non-first-generation students enrolled in college immediately after finishing high school, only 54 percent of students whose parents had completed high school did, and only 36 percent of students whose parents had less than a high school diploma did. (Choy, 2001, p. xviii) So as research showed, the less people in your family who don't associate themselves with a further education the less your chances become for being successful as a college student or even attending college. One of my main goals for remaining a student at Savannah State University is to lead the way for my younger siblings, so that they will understand that it doesn't just end at high school, and college should hopefully become more mandatory to them then optional. .
There is something I want my younger siblings to watch out for when going to college, like gaining access amount of weight, also known as " freshman 15 ". Freshman 15 refers to college students coming to college and eating way more food than they are burning off and more food than they normally eats and this causes a fair gain of 15lb or more, which can lead to heart problems and also diabetes. Another major thing I would inform my siblings to watch out for is the amount of debt they get their selves into.
