Japan is an island nation located in northeastern Asia between the north Pacific and the Sea of Japan. The Japanese population was estimated at over 127 millions (WPR, 2014). Most of Japanese reside in urban area. Japan is a constitutional monarchy governed under the constitution of 1947 by a Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, and his cabinet. It declares that the emperor is the symbol of the state but that sovereignty rests with the people. The bicameral parliament is called the Diet and is represented of the upper House of Councilors and the lower House of Representatives. The nation is in power by two main political parties, which are the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of Japan. Shinzo Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party, who held the position before in 2006-2007, is Japan's seventh prime minister in six years.
Japan is classified one of the "mostly free " economies. Statistics published show that Japan is the third largest economic power in the modern world, behind only the United States and China (BBC News, 2014), which is highly efficient to the global economy. With the Gross Domestic Product per capita at 37432.91 US dollars in 2013 (Trading Economics, 2014), the living standards of their society are considered high. Moreover, purchasing power is one of the highest in the world. Manufacturing is one of Japan's strengths but the country has a limited number of natural resources. They rely on importation of oil, gas and many metals. Only 12% of the land is suitable for agriculture but Japan is blessed with bountiful coastal waters that provide the nation with fish and other marine foods. Exports in Japan are varied; their main export goods are cars, electronic devices and computers. A big number of humongous manufacturing companies like Toyota, Sony, Honda, Hitachi and more are famous across the globe. Most important trade partners are China and the USA, followed by South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and Germany.
