Not all of what is being written is research. Some of the information is while, others are just telling how you can prevent it. On top of reading journals and articles, a doctor must be able to read medical reports, and even medical test results. A doctor who is not able to read an MRI or lab results would not be able to help the patient much at all. Not only do you have to be able to read words, but you also have to be able to read images and graphs in order to be a successful doctor. .
When a person goes to school to become a doctor, they have many required classes that they must take in order to be able to understand what is what in the medical field. General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, and many more are required and are on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). These are all required because they help further the medical field into a more able environment to help those in need. Physics is needed because when a doctor performs research, a basic understanding of physics would help them with their experiments by helping them be able to properly measure what they need. "Doctors that don't understand physics can be dangerous. Medicine without physics technology would be barbaric" (https://phystec.physics.cornell.edu/content/why-study-physics). Chemistry is needed because a doctor has to understand what elements are in the body and how to diagnose a problem. The medication that a doctor gives a patient has to be able to properly help better them and not kill them. Medicine is a chemical that reacts with how the body works and knowing that helps doctors understand how to use an existing medicine for new reasons. For example, aspirin is a natural pain killer, but there is a chemical in aspirin which prevents the blood from clotting, therefore making it a useful medication to use to prevent a heart attack as well. .
In the medical field, there is also a large amount of research that is done.
