Everywhere you go, there are examples of man's hatred for those who are different, especially in history. From this unacceptance of peoples uniqueness, horrifying, saddening events have taken place. Us as human beings need to learn from our scarred history, and act to solve our problems. One example, spawned from hatred, is The Somalian Civil War of 1988. The Somalian Civil War is a difficult topic to understand, to make it easier, one must examine the background information, details, people involved, and the inhumanities that took place, in order to stop this from happening in the future. .
In any event, there is always background information that leads to the issue, when the background information is understood, the issue becomes alittle bit easier to comprehend. The Somalian Civil War didn't start over nothing, it started when their national government fell apart, in 1991, when their leader left. Since then, Somalia has been ravaged by internal warfare. Somalia is ruled by family-like clan groups, which are in constant battle with each other, over land and resources. "Hundreds of thousands have been killed in the on-going internal conflict between clans and Islamic militants: More than 1.5 million have been displaced from their homes" This quote shows just the sheer number of civilians being affected by tribalism in Somalia. In the aftermath of all the fighting, the people of Somalia have found a new way to make money: Piracy. Somalis board high seas ships and hold its passengers at gun point, while demanding a ransom payment. As Somalis gain strength on water, they gain strength on land, which is concerning global security. .
Details are the most important part of an event to analyze. One important detail about Somalia is that they have no national government, and the people pose a threat to the political leaders. Because of this, the former members of the cabinet have to meet in the neighboring country of Kenya.
