             (iv) The cognitive-behavioral model focuses on specific thoughts and learning experiences. This model is a combination of the behavioral perspective, which focuses on external factors and the cognitive perspective which focuses on internal thoughts. The behavioral perspective is based on the assumption that all behavior is learned. The cognitive perspective implies that emotions and behavior are influenced by how we perceive and think about our present and past experiences. (Kearney & Trull, 2012). .
             (v) The sociocultural model focuses on external environmental events and includes the family systems perspective. The core assumption of this model is that, outside influences play a major role on creating a person's psychological problems. .
             4. Describe the process of classifying abnormal behavior and mental disorder. .
             According to Abnormal Psychology and Life: A Dimensional Approach, (Kearney & Trull, 2012) the DSM-IV-TR is a primary method for classifying abnormal behavior and mental disorders. This DSM-IV-TR contains a multaxial system. This system contain five (5) axes of information, provided to help organize mental disorders and help clinicians assign diagnoses, plan treatment and predict outcome. .
             (i) Axis I.
             Major clinical disorder that often emerges and ends in the life cycle. This may include anxiety, somatoform, and dissociative, mood, eating, substance use, psychosexual, psychotic, disruptive, and cognitive factors. .
             (ii) Axis II.
             This refers to disorders that are lifelong in nature; this includes mental retardation and personality disorders. .
             (iii) Axis III.
             This axis pertains to the medical conditions relevant to understanding or treating a patient's Axis I or II disorder. This axis would include any disorder linked with high blood pressure, diabetes, or hypothyroidism and their treatment; sometimes medication that is prescribed can cause episodes of mental disorders.
