During the Great Depression, life for many Americans was difficult. Everyday families faced hardships and new challenges. Many men did as much as they could to provide shelter and at least one meal for their families. One of these men was named Jim Braddock, who became a famous and loved, professional boxer and is who the movie "Cinderella Man" is based on. There are many significant events that happen in Jim Braddock's life. When Jim's boxing license was resigned, that led him to seek out work with an injured hand. Working with an injured hand almost made Jim lose the day job he was working in. Jim's manager gets him a fight even though his license is resigned. The day before his fight Jim gives up his meal to give to his daughter who is hungry. In the end of the film "Cinderella Man," Jim ends up winning his fight against Max Baer, which is the most significant event in his life. Jim is trying to provide for a family after he lost his license during the Great Depression. At the climax of the movie Jim emerges victorious in his match against Max, which is how the film ends as well. The plot would only be predictable if one were to know the true life story of Jim Braddock prior to watching the movie. If one does not know, on the other hand, then the plot is not predictable because you never know what's going to happen to him in his fights or if he's going to survive and pull through the hardships he has to face. .
Jim and Mae Braddock are married. They both have strength and faith, which helps them get through the tough times and stay together. Jay, Rosemary, and Howard Braddock are Jim and Mae's children. They support their father and want him to win his fights. They are part of the reason for Jim's determination in winning the big fight against Max. Mike and Sarah Wilson are good friends of both Jim and Mae. They show the struggle that some relationships had because of the Great Depression.
