Prison Rehabilitation - A New Look at an Old Problem

Recently, the Foundation launched a new program called The National Emotional Literacy Project for Prisoners, its first major and ongoing initiative, which gives incarcerated men and women throughout the United States a powerful program to help them change life-long patterns of violence and addiction and build productive lives. Lionheart's prison program helps prisoners take stock of the life experiences that have propelled them into criminal activity while helping them take responsibility for their criminal behavior. They are given practical and effective tools to take charge of their lives and transform their futures (Lionheart, 2008).
Although prisoner rehabilitation does not guarantee the release of an inmate or that they will live the rest of their lives without committing another crime, the idea is that the inmate will use these new found mental and physical skills combined with the desire not to go back to prison as an incentive. But it is the hope of those who implement these programs that the prisoners are rehabilitated and that their programs are successful enough for them to be continued in the future. Prisoner rehabilitation does have its issues with those who are for or against these types of programs. In addressing some of these issues, those who are for prisoner rehabilitation sometimes find it difficult to receive all of the materials that they need to make the kind of impact that these programs are designed to do. Some programs either have small budgets or they lack the necessary financial assistance to properly allow the prison inmates to be rehabilitated.
Stakeholders can also be seen from a perspective of being critical to the fundamental operation and existence of the company, as without their existence the company might simply collapse and cease to function properly. Stakeholders might be both internal and external to the company, meaning that stakeholders might be individuals working within the company, be it as employees or managers, or they might be entities outside of the company, such as shareholders, customers, and creditors.
