The word "management" is defined as "the process of administering and coordinating effectively and efficiently in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization." Managers plan, lead, organize, and control. Today's workplaces are growing and going through rapid changes due to many factors such as the impact of globalization, revolution of information technology, an increasing demand for knowledge-workers in the knowledge driven organizations.
The impact of globalization leads to strategic challenges of mixed cultures and languages in the business environment. As Arshad Husain put it, "Globalization is the ongoing economic, technological, social, and political integration of the world that began after the Second World War" (Husain, 2010). The problem with the economy today, is that countries really can't move forward without giving in to demands from international organizations. As a response to the growing globalization, a conceptual framework for strategic management is needed. Some organizations are failing due to poor management. To be able to manage employees during this globalization, the human resource department must possess the knowledge of strategic policies and training. In order to be successful, the challenge of all businesses is to understand the global cultural differences and to invest more into their human capital. For an organization to succeed today, the human factor is most important.
In order for organizations that are competing in a global market place to survive, they need to be more flexible and faster-moving. The organizations need to provide proper training for their employees so they can also develop the proper skills and knowledge in order to deal with other cultures. Some businesses today do not make it far due to culture insensitivity. Once cannot expect to run a business and succeed without learning and respecting the cultures of other nationalities, faiths, or religions.
