Edgar Allan Poe is an American writer of the19th century. His writing style is absolutely different from others. He always creates mysterious characters in his writings. In the beginning he was introduced as a poet then he became a famous short story writer of the uncanny, but he kept writing poems. His writings keep the readers thinking eagerly about what is going to happen in the next few lines. He is considered as the master of gothic stories. The way he portrays his characters in his writings is exceptional. Characters are the main instruments of a story which helps readers to relate and understand the story. His characters are very interesting to analyze as they are mysterious.1 Many critics have written many articles on his writings and also biography about him. After reading some of his short stories and his biography I found his characters more interesting and I decided to write my paper on a few of them. In my paper I will focus on some of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories to analyze the perfect combination of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories and his characters.
The protagonists of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories are the main attractions for the readers. Characters always play an important role to understand the story, mainly the protagonists whose actions mainly formulate the story. All writers do not have the power to communicate to the readers through their characters. However, E. A. Poe has this power and this power makes him unique. He is like the magicians. His characters are mysterious as magic. Some of his characters, for example, both the narrators of "The Black Cat,"" and "The Tell-Tale Heart,"" act as theirs own foil character.2 At the beginning of the stories we found them acting as sane but at the end their activities prove them as insane. He always plays with his characters. Most of the critics talk about his writings and also the psychology of the characters as he has a unique sense of presentation of his characters.
