Overview of Major League Baseball

The strike angered him so much that he stopped watching baseball for 16 years because he couldn't get into the games like he used to. This seemed to be a common response among fans all over the nation. .
However, the strike is not the only problem with baseball. One of the more popular reasons for fan loss is the use of steroids. Taking steroids to enhance your performance during games is cheating. Legends such as Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds have been suspected of using steroids; if there was proof they took steroids, their records would not be stripped from them. Not punishing a player for cheating is immoral. The young boys that watch baseball with their Dads would be looking up to a fraud. Possibly the most disturbing part of steroid use is the lack of punishment. Some players are only sentenced to a suspension of a few games. .
With the number of games played in an average season, about 160, suspending a player for only a few of those games does not seem like a reasonable punishment. A lot of the players are likely to go back to the habits of using steroids because they only missed a minor amount of games. Most fans of baseball are not going to support a player who has a history of steroid use. "A national poll shows 86% of baseball fans say players and owners should agree on a tougher steroid-testing program. With a tougher steroids program, players may not take steroids in fear of getting caught; this solution can draw fans back into baseball, knowing they are not watching a cheater play. .
Along with the use of the steroids, many fans do not want to experience the prices of attending a Major League Baseball game. Most families leave baseball games with an empty wallet and feeling like they got ripped off. The "cheap " tickets are nearly whopping $80. Coming with the high ticket prices are the high concession stand prices. Most people want to experience "baseball " food at a baseball game, however, when buying hot dogs, soda, and chips for the whole family spending over $70 for a family seems ridiculous.
