S. there came a search for a new cultural identity – a freedom of ideas movement. New forms or Art, Literature, Poetry and Music reflected the changes in society and popular movements necessitated political reform. The Civil Rights movement, which marked the people's rebellion against the discrimination directed towards African Americans and changed American Society forever, was followed by the Anti-War movement, which marked the next generation's understanding of the futility of war. The end of the 1960's saw a marked change in consciousness toward the importance of universal Peace. .
             Assignment.
             Bearing in mind the historical context, explain your chosen person or event in its wider context Make reference to other related events or figures Be sure to use a wide range of source material Highlight key people, concepts and achievements and explain the historical significance of your chosen person or event in relation to them. Explain why you yourself chose him/ her/ it. In your research use reputable Internet sites (Wikipedia, online academic journals, PBS documentary website) and make informed decisions based on this research. Create an informative, organized and attractive presentations with relevant visuals: graphs, charts photographs, drawings. The presentation should be no longer than 5 minutes. TAKE NOTE: You will also be graded for your approach to research, leading up to your presentation.
             Form of Assessment.
             Power point presentations are an appropriate form of assessment for the learning objectives, since they depend on the following:.
             1. Prior knowledge of the key people and events that made the history of the 1950's and 1960's. .
             2. An understanding of taught concepts of key historical factors.
             3. The ability to choose source material effectively (from internet sites and the library) and work with other students to do this.
             4. The ability to use source material effectively.
             5. Prior knowledge of how to relativize secondary source material and how to estimate the historical significance of primary source material.
