Information - Society and the Future

However, with advanced farming tools, like a plow pulled by a cow, someone had an amount of profit. That was the very first time as well as the starting point of the gap between the rich and the poor. It is applied to the new era, Information age. Some scholars and sociologists said the gap from users and the used (i.e. haves and have-nots) have been widened since human beings had surplus products. Thus, the gap is still valid to utilize efficiently and develop human resources or raw materials for our better life. I'm daring to say that everyone whose position is in the upper class is able to agree with this opinion because they seldom need to give up the power that they have. .
As I aforementioned, those who are physically weak, seniors, have insufficient money and are rustic are "the used. " Although they are eager to escape from the low condition, yet they can hardly do that. For example, Kim, Bong-su who is a 62-year-old typical farmer lives in southern part of Korea. Everyday he goes to his tiny farm and picks up wild plants. That is his routine life. The government supplied Internet PCs in his village but he never uses it. All kinds of information that he wants to take are from people around him, not from the Internet. When his grandson visited his farm, he suggested to his grand father selling his product though the web because it gives him a lot of profit without retailers. However, he doesn't know what is the e-market nor he wonders whether he can properly use new methods, or not. After his grandson's advise, he takes an Internet course at a community college. He realizes that it is hard to learn new skills for him as an out-of-fashioned person to survive against a big, fast IT wave and compete with young generation and well-educated people. Like wise, Mr. Kim has an invisible obstacle. If he is illiterate, the problem might be worse than this situation. Firstly, he barely understands the notion of new technology.
