Internet Censorship - SOPA and PIPA

Many people utilize this site for educational and recreational purposes. Much of the site's content, however, originated from a third party who simply uploaded the content for public use. One of the popular educational subjects in YouTube is National Geographic. If internet censorship is passed, posting of National Geographic content would be a felony due to the copyrighted nature of the material. Simple little videos that are used for nothing more than to educate would be against the law. Every day, people utilize the internet to obtain information. Internet censorship will greatly impede those actions. Research will no longer be easily accessible. It will be the end of the informational highway. .
Nobody owns the internet. It is a perfect representation of freedom of speech and liberty. Internet censorship will change that. Large corporations will control the internet through the Federal Government. All videos, pictures, and articles will be removed at their desire. Something as small and innocent as a picture of a child's birthday cake will be removed as a violation of copyright if that cake should happen to have a protected image on it. Imagine sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, and countless blogs, ceasing to exist. Freedom of speech, in terms of internet content, would not subsist. First Amendment rights would be denied in favor of corporate control and profit. SOPA and PIPA would permit corporations and the Federal Government to control what the public is allowed to access. .
Opponents of SOPA and PIPA feel that any website with even a possibility of uploading copyrighted content will be shut down (Schanz, 2012). Websites do not have to break the law in anyway, if the possibility exists for copyright infringement, they will be shut down. What this means is that websites that are widely used such as search engines, auction sites, video sites, and picture sites, will be shut down.
