Head Over Wheels

I decided to read "Head Over Wheels" because I wanted to read a short story. Once we were done with our last SSR book, I spotted this book and I ended up choosing it. In addition, the cover appeared to be two brothers and one was in a wheelchair, so thought to myself that the book would be intriguing. Since the book had around two-hundred pages, I selected to read Head Over Wheels. .
The setting of this book takes place in Boston, Massachusetts in 1960. The main protagonists include twins: Kerry and Terry, Jen, Kerry's girlfriend, Roxy, Terry's girlfriend, and the mother and father. The main conflict in Head Over Wheels is when Kerry and Terry get involved in a major automobile accident, where the driver was killed and Terry suffered severe injuries to his skull and was paralyzed from the neck down. .
The climax of the book is when Kerry yells at Terry in frustration over the phone because of is stubbornness. Kerry also is mad at him because since Terry has been recovering, Jen has been taking care of him more and growing more and more closer to him leaving Kerry in the dust. The resolution of the book is when Terry apologizes to Kerry about not being more considerate over his twin's feelings and promises to focus all about getting fully recovered. .
One important main idea in this book is perseverance. Throughout the rehab stage, Terry goes through a variety of grueling operations on his head and neck such as neck fuses and kidney infections. The doctors even said to Terry's family that it's unrealistic that he'll ever be able to walk again. But Terry's goal is to not lie down and give up. He believes this even though his friends say he won't be the same person or that he won't recover from this fatal injury. Even though Terry could be paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life, not being able to do daily functions in life, or even have a reason to live, he keeps fighting through and relishes the opportunity to prove doubters wrong.
