            Alcohol has been a part of the human experience for many centuries. More than half of all Americans aged 12 or older report that they are current drinkers. In the latest national survey, 51.9% of those surveyed said they were current drinkers, or an estimate 130.6 million people. Alcohol used to be something that people risked their lives to create, sell, and drink. Today we have the luxury of purchasing it at gas stations, grocery stores, and liquor stores stacked with bottles of every possible variety. The different alcohols consumed are usually used in different occasions. The occasion is what makes the moment of whether beer, wine, or liquor is appropriate to drink.

             Drinking beer is usually consumed in occasional enjoyment with friends, and loved ones. Beer is a worldwide, commonly known and used beverage that has become a part of our society. It is also the most widely consumed alcoholic beverage in the world. For example, when you are attending a barbecue or a family get-together, everyone will grab a beer just to relax, hang out, and enjoy themselves. Sharing a beer with friends or acquaintances is one way of sparking conversation and just being, well, sociable. It becomes a common bond between partakers. Not only does it loosen the tongue a bit, but also causes some to open up. After coming home after a long day of work, the best feeling for many is just to grab a nice cold beer and kick off your shoes. The price of beer is also what makes it a convenience to have for casual drinking. Many years ago beer was used as a small payment to provide the monks 5 liters of beer each day. Monks believed that he who drinks beer, sleeps well; he who sleeps well, cannot sin, and he who does not sin, goes to heaven. Therefore, beer was used for religious beliefs also.

             Wine is most qualified for a formal, classy, or special occasion. There are good reasons to drink wine, such as to celebrate and socialize.
