             Play Checklist(Heidemann & Hewitt,2010).
When Vanessa plays she uses real objects and she often substitutes objects for other objects. When we did our observation of Vanessa she was playing in the house center and telling her peers that she had an ice cream cone. Her peers kept saying no Vanessa that's a cup. Vanessa was using her imagination and pretending that her cup was an ice cream cone. In the block center she was using a single block and was waving it around in the air saying "hold on guys there are bumps ahead." The teacher had asked Vanessa what she was playing with and she said an airplane. .
             .
Vanessa enjoys role playing everyday in the house center she likes to take the role of the mother. There are not many dress up clothes in the house center so we don't know if Vanessa would dress up if she could. She often is the role delegator in the house center. For Thanksgiving the children had a feast and were able to make their own pilgrim hats and for about a week Vanessa was telling everyone that she was a pilgrim. If Vanessa had more opportunities to role play it would possibly be her favorite type of play. Vanessa sometimes uses words to describe imaginary objects and actions. When Vanessa plays store sometimes she sells hot coco or ice cream. When she completes the transactions with her peers she always puts out her hand out to collect money and will then tell the other child the price "it's two dollars.".
             .
When Vanessa plays mommy she talks to her peers like they are her children. During the observation we heard her say " you better get to bed before daddy gets home" and "your sister is not going to the park today." Vanessa definitely talks with her peers from the motherly role that she so often takes on. Vanessa can play for about ten to fifteen minutes in one scenario without getting bored. According to Heidemann and Hewitt (2010) children who are Vanessa's age should be able to play for at least five minutes most five-year-old's play for ten minutes or longer.
