            Children are a large part of how companies make their money and will be for a long time. Currently, television commercials are filled with advertisements and clever ideas to influence children. As crazy as it sounds, today parents are overtaken by their kid's ability to beg for toys and other commodities. Children take up a large amount of their parent's financial budget because they want everything that interests them from what they see in commercials. It is amazing to see how easily a child can manipulate their parent to spend money for them. Advertising is clever in the way it draws children in, but it also brainwashes kid's minds.

             Advertising can expose children to so many different products. In the documentary "Consuming Kids", children get sucked into a world of entertainment, but for the long run the purpose is to help the companies make money. When the family decides on the computer or car bought, children are usually the ones who make the decision (Barbaro and Earp). Children today experience technology at a very young age, making it much easier to manipulate their decision-making abilities. It is smart to influence kids at a young age to desire these items; it makes businesses successful, but it is unethical because they are not mature enough to understand the purpose of money. Annually, adults spend 700 billion dollars on children and the number is astronomically growing (Barbaro and Earp). The goal of advertising is to give children the authority of the household, and to introduce them to Disney who sell millions of products in stores around the world. When watching television or movies, children grow attached to their characters and want to buy everything that is associated with them immediately (Barbaro and Earp). Advertising is not only controlling kids and how they manipulate their parents, but it is also making them become obsessed with the products.

             Advertising is creating a generation where children think that money is unlimited and that they can buy anything.
