Notre Dame Student Falls to Death After Scissor Lift Collapses

 

            The Notre Dame campus is still in shock over the sudden death of Declan Sullivan, a junior studying film marketing and television and theater (Gay). Sullivan was filming a football practice atop a scissor lift, a portable hydraulic lift that allows people to videotape team drills from as high as 40 feet above practice field, when the lift collapsed from high winds (Auman). The afternoon that Sullivan died winds reached up to 51 mph in South Bend, according to the National Weather Service. Students even struggled to walk to class (Hall). .
             Hours before his death, Sullivan tweeted about his predicament. The first tweet that came at 3:22pm said, "Gusts of wind up to 60 mph well today will be fun at work.
