In the criminal justice system, a person who committed crime will face first the police or law enforcement officer. The function of the police is to make sure that peace and order is established thus they are empowered to use force if necessary to attain their goals. Aside from their role in the enforcement of criminal laws, police officers are also responsible for maintaining as safe environment. But, there are instances where police officials abuse their power and their positions being in authority and this complicates a lot of things.
Meanwhile, the place where disputes are settled is in courts in the presence of a judge, a prosecutor and a defense attorney. In courts, the judge should be knowledgeable with the laws and he or she functions as the administrator of the proceedings and gives the decision at the end of the case objectively. His decision will be based on the weight of the evidences presented. Moreover, the prosecutor is the lawyer whose function is to bring charges against an individual or a party while the defense attorney challenges the evidences presented by the plaintiff's side or the complainant.
