They are deserving of a title much more significant than friend. These people are in your core support system and the ones in my life are included in my values. Created family provides perspective and gives you that perspective in a way no one else can. My natural family also has a place in my value system. Those relationships are the most unique we will every have. With your family you can yell, argue and all and all stop talking, but at the end of the day they are still your family. You are still connected and they will always be there for you. Another core value is volunteerism. There are many people in the world that are looking for a way up and are on the verge of a break through. Helping the people of your community improves the lives of others, allowing them to continue the cycle of compassion. Volunteering develops old skills and helps you discover new ones. The last value that is core to my self-philosophy is religion. I put it last on my list because everything comes back to the God we serve and without a personal relationship everything I've already included on the list doesn't matter. Knowing where I stand with him can make everything else okay.
The values listed have been acquired through my family and life experiences that I have been witness to or have gone through myself. My whole family has explicitly told me and implicitly shown me that the morals above equal success. By their commitment or lack of to the values above it has been proven to me that some combination of the items above are needed in order to have success. My son and environment have influenced my values. Past boyfriends, co-workers, and the children I volunteer my time to mold me as a person. I have been subjected to the rules and guidelines of my culture, like everyone else, that alone would be enough to shape my perspective and belief system. Everything in society from teachers to the media helps you develop you.
